“Careers in Health” Initiative Celebrates Success!

It was on year ago when the Metro South Chamber of Commerce was awarded with a $40,000 grant from the Lumina Foundation to support higher education programs. The award program was part of a partnership between the American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE) and Lumina Foundation to engage the business community in efforts to increase post-secondary education.

The Chamber used this grant to continue the Careers in Health Initiative, a program launched three years ago enabling us to train the region’s health care workers to meet the current and future workforce needs of the healthcare facilities in
the Metro South region. The program targeted entry and advanced level health care employees who seek career and workplace advancement but require higher education, certification, or licensure.

“This grant was a welcome recognition and a boost to our efforts in attracting, training and retaining employees within the Metro South region. Our members and their employees are the primary beneficiary of these resources and our regional economy is stronger as a result,” said Christopher Cooney, CCE, Chamber President and CEO.

The Careers in Health Program concluded along with the grant, ending with  a presentation for an American Chamber of Commerce Executives (ACCE)?webinar entitled: “Creating Pathways for our Current and Future Workforce.”
