Chamber President & CEO, Christopher Cooney, and many business owners, testified in favor of moving forward on the development of a  Brockton Destination Resort Casino at the Brockton Fairgrounds in front of the five-member Massachusetts Gaming Commission during the  final public hearing.

Cooney discussed his recent trip to Des Plaines, Illinois, a similar suburban Rush Street Gaming Casino, providing a first-hand account of the positive impact that a Rush Street Gaming facility can have on the community, including diversification of entertainment options, exquisite dining options, and overwhelming support of community based organizations.  He also discussed the potential impact of the $675 million investment in Brockton, as well as the creation of 1,500 jobs that would help replace the 600 jobs lost when the region was negatively impacted by the referendum vote that closed the Raynham Dog Track after 59 years of operation.

Cooney was joined at the hearing by over 200 business people and residents, expressing their final opinions before the commission makes their decision on the casino’s fate in late April. For more information, visit www.brocktonresortandcasino.com.
