Mayor Linda Balzotti expanded longstanding tradition by holding the very first State of the City/Region outside of
Brockton City Hall. The Chamber hosted nearly two hundred people at the Shaw’s Center to hear Brockton’s first
female Mayor address the current state of affairs for the city with many topics touching on regional items of concern.

In less than one hour and fifteen minutes the Mayor covered a very large number of topics and answered more than eighteen questions asked by various attendees from the business community. A complete video recording can be viewed on cable access or by contacting the Chamber at 508.586.0500 x 222.

“The audience was pleased that the Mayor had time to answer every question asked on issues ranging from the redevelopment of city hall plaza to public safety precautions taken in light of the recent Boston bombings. She went on to cover tourism promotion, highway signage and economic development while also mentioning commercial tax rates and areas of regional collaboration and cooperation possible in the coming months and years,” said Chamber President and CEO Christopher Cooney.

“I think this format allowed the Mayor to expand her audience while providing an opportunity for business people to gain clarity directly from her on items that are of concern to them and their business interests. I hope we can offer and provide this format again to whoever is elected Mayor in the future. It is a very positive way to engage in important dialogue with the business community,” said Cooney.
